This issue occurs when flushing TX in the virtio_net_flush_tx function if guest features VIRTIO_NET_F_HASH_REPORT, VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1 and VIRTIO_NET_F_MRG_RXBUF are enabled. This could allow a malicious user to overwrite local variables allocated on the stack. Specifically, the `out_sg` variable could be used to read a part of process memory and send it to the wire, causing an information leak.\n\n## Affected\n\n- `virt-devel:rhel (all versions)`\n- `virt:rhel (all versions)`\n- `qemu-kvm (all versions)`\n- `qemu-kvm`\n- `qemu-kvm`\n- `qemu-kvm-ma`\n- `virt:av/qemu-kvm (all versions)`\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n### Workarounds\n\nMitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.","depth":"sunlit","depthScore":27,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":27,"likelihood":0.1,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[]}
