A packet header declaring a length above 2^31 makes the buffer size computation overflow, leaving the growth loop unable to terminate. Because PgBouncer serves all clients from a single process, this saturates a CPU core and stalls every pooled connection until the process is restarted. Since 1.23.0 the overflow is reachable before authentication with a five-byte packet header.\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · affected: Red Hat Hardened Images · no fix planned: Red Hat Hardened Images · updated 2026-10-15 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-107348.json)\n- **RHSA-2026:83843** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat Hardened Images · released 2026-10-16 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:83843)","depth":"sunlit","depthScore":33,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":32.5,"likelihood":0.1,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[]}
