Prior to 26.10.0rc1, the twisted.words.xish.domish ExpatElementStream parser allows an unauthenticated remote peer to keep a container element open while continuously adding child elements. The parser retains the unfinished stanza as an in-memory tree without a byte or element-count limit, and XMPP pre-authentication stream parsing exposes this behavior before credentials are accepted. A single connection can therefore exhaust server memory and terminate the process. This issue is fixed in version 26.10.0rc1.\n\n## Affected\n\n- `twisted < 26.10.0rc1`\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Package advisory (CVE-2026-115775)\n\nAffected packages:\n\n- `twisted < 26.10.0rc1`\n\nPatched in:\n\n- `twisted 26.10.0rc1`\n\nSource: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-3476-c5c2-fr73","depth":"midnight","depthScore":60,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":47.8,"likelihood":0.1,"exploitation":12,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":231978,"id":"CVE-2026-115775","ts":1793574264356,"field":"exploit_available","old":"false","new":"true"}]}
