Additionally, when the client omits the grpc-timeout header, the per-chunk read timeout resolves to :infinity, allowing a slow-trickle client to keep the connection alive indefinitely while memory grows. A single connection is sufficient to exhaust server memory and crash the node.\n\nThis issue affects grpc: from 0.3.0-alpha.2 before 1.0.0.\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Package advisory (CVE-2026-48854)\n\nAffected packages:\n\n- `grpc >= 0.3.1, < 1.0.0`\n\nPatched in:\n\n- `grpc 1.0.0`\n\nSource: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-q8gf-9rvj-gmgj","depth":"midnight","depthScore":60,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":47.8,"likelihood":0.1,"exploitation":12,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":210408,"id":"CVE-2026-48854","ts":1790286858274,"field":"exploit_available","old":"false","new":"true"},{"seq":210407,"id":"CVE-2026-48854","ts":1790286858274,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"8.7"}]}
