Because the continue skips the \"skb = NULL\" reset at the\nbottom of the loop, the next iteration enters the \"else if (skb)\" path\nand calls ixgbevf_add_rx_frag() on the freed skb, dereferencing\nskb_shinfo(skb)->nr_frags - a use-after-free in NAPI softirq context.\n\nThe sibling driver iavf already handles this correctly by nulling the\npointer before continuing.  Apply the same pattern here.\n\nI do not have ixgbevf hardware; the bug was found by static analysis\n(scan_drop_continue_loops.py + semgrep drop_continue_in_loop, multi-tool\ncorroboration with the highest score in the scan).  The UAF was confirmed\nunder KASAN by loading a test module that reproduces the exact code\npattern (alloc skb, kfree_skb, then read skb_shinfo(skb)->nr_frags):\n\n  BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in ixgbevf_uaf_test_init+0x100/0x1000\n  Read of size 8 at addr 000000006163ae78 by task insmod/30\n  freed 208-byte region [000000006163adc0, 000000006163ae90)\n\nQEMU emulates igb (82576) but not ixgbe (82599), and the igbvf VF\ndriver does not include the VEPA source pruning path, so a full\nend-to-end reproduction with emulated hardware was not possible.\n\n## Affected\n\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < 3d931ac62411a7e43b85dba5fe45e1a4a91bd5cb`\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < 6ef30384a50a50e4a484cddf341bc27de31aa3de`\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < 55b3e91d62b2f7a24109b2d7c9f4c66d2e3b1ec1`\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < add70e2682c0ad3be2a5810bcf1bc13963ba4df9`\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < a244395d8c563ed1bb26c3ef708db6aeeaa08084`\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < dfef79e09ed2f5df975c98547f97f5d7f8982a24`\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < e8768bcbe5cd30c4ea36a22022c9ffaa66903693`\n- `Linux >= bad17234ba702a50aeec50ab04724ee58af89607 < 5d49b568c188dc77199d8d2b959c91da8cc27cf1`\n- `Linux 3.19`\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **RHSA-2026:83707** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AppStream EUS (v. 10.0), Red Hat Enterprise Linux BaseOS EUS (v. 10.0), Red Hat Enterprise Linux CodeReady Linux Builder EUS (v. 10.0), Red Hat Enterprise Linux Real Time for NFV EUS (v. 10.0), Red Hat Enterprise Linux Real Time EUS (v. 10.0) · released 2026-10-16 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:83707)\n- **RHSA-2026:65334** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AppStream (v. 10), Red Hat Enterprise Linux BaseOS (v. 10), Red Hat Enterprise Linux CodeReady Linux Builder (v. 10), Red Hat Enterprise Linux Real Time for NFV (v. 10), Red Hat Enterprise Linux Real Time (v. 10) · released 2026-09-08 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:65334)\n- **RHSA-2026:67150** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AppStream (v. 9), Red Hat Enterprise Linux BaseOS (v. 9), Red Hat Enterprise Linux CodeReady Linux Builder (v. 9), Red Hat Enterprise Linux Real Time for NFV (v. 9), Red Hat Enterprise Linux Real Time (v. 9) · released 2026-09-14 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:67150)\n- **RHSA-2026:66325** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat Enterprise Linux BaseOS (v. 8), Red Hat Enterprise Linux CRB (v. 8) · released 2026-09-10 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:66325)\n- **RHSA-2026:66324** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat Enterprise Linux NFV (v. 8), Red Hat Enterprise Linux RT (v. 8) · released 2026-09-10 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:66324)\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Important · affected: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 · no fix planned: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 · updated 2026-10-16 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-64113.json)","depth":"midnight","depthScore":54,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":53.9,"likelihood":0.1,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":225182,"id":"CVE-2026-64113","ts":1792442523093,"field":"cvss","old":"7","new":"9.8"},{"seq":225181,"id":"CVE-2026-64113","ts":1792442523093,"field":"severity","old":"high","new":"critical"},{"seq":223664,"id":"CVE-2026-64113","ts":1792238362609,"field":"cvss","old":"9.8","new":"7"},{"seq":223663,"id":"CVE-2026-64113","ts":1792238362609,"field":"severity","old":"critical","new":"high"}]}
