When a candidate's\nstart is misaligned, realign it: free the misaligned run and reallocate\nexactly @size at the next lower min_block_size boundary. This keeps the\nreturned size unchanged with no surplus to trim, and rejects the request\nonly when no aligned candidate fits.\n\nv2: align misaligned candidates down to min_block_size instead of\n    bailing out, for both the RHS and LHS paths (Matthew).\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · updated 2026-10-16 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-72244.json)","depth":"twilight","depthScore":43,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":42.9,"likelihood":0,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":230273,"id":"CVE-2026-72244","ts":1793130913755,"field":"cvss","old":"5.5","new":"7.8"},{"seq":230272,"id":"CVE-2026-72244","ts":1793130913755,"field":"severity","old":"medium","new":"high"},{"seq":223651,"id":"CVE-2026-72244","ts":1792238347432,"field":"cvss","old":"7.8","new":"5.5"},{"seq":223650,"id":"CVE-2026-72244","ts":1792238347432,"field":"severity","old":"high","new":"medium"}]}
