Prior to 1.36.10, 1.37.6, 1.38.4, and 1.39.1, Envoy's URL normalization does not recognize dot and dotdot path segments when they carry semicolon parameters. A request such as /user/..;foo=bar/admin is therefore not canonicalized to /admin even when path normalization is enabled. If an upstream interprets the segment according to RFC 3986 while Envoy applies routing or RBAC to the uncollapsed path, a remote client can cause path confusion and bypass path-based security policy. The relevant scope boundary is that the security consequence depends on a downstream/upstream path interpretation mismatch or a path-based Envoy decision. This issue is fixed in versions 1.36.10, 1.37.6, 1.38.4, and 1.39.1.\n\n## Affected\n\n- `envoy < 1.36.10`\n- `envoy >= 1.37.0, < 1.37.6`\n- `envoy >= 1.38.0, < 1.38.4`\n- `envoy >= 1.39.0, < 1.39.1`\n\n## Remediation\n\nUpgrade past the affected range:\n\n- `envoy 1.39.1`\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **RHSA-2026:65106** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.0 · released 2026-09-08 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:65106)\n- **RHSA-2026:65112** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.1 · released 2026-09-08 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:65112)\n- **RHSA-2026:65113** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.2 · released 2026-09-08 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:65113)\n- **RHSA-2026:65115** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.3 · released 2026-09-08 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:65115)\n- **RHSA-2026:65121** · Red Hat · fixed in: Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.4 · released 2026-09-08 · [advisory](https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:65121)","depth":"sunlit","depthScore":29,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":29.2,"likelihood":0.1,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[]}
