once remove()\nreturns the host can be freed, so that work would touch freed memory.\n\nCancel carddet_work after freeing the IRQ and before cancelling\nfinish_bh_work, which the card-detect handler can also queue. carddet_work\ncan re-enable the interrupt through via_reset_pcictrl(); mask it again\nafterwards.\n\nThis issue was found by an in-house static analysis tool and confirmed by\nmanual code review.\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · affected: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 · no fix planned: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, … · updated 2026-09-14 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-89441.json)","depth":"twilight","depthScore":43,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":42.9,"likelihood":0,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":215292,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1791027881543,"field":"cvss","old":"5.5","new":"7.8"},{"seq":215291,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1791027881543,"field":"severity","old":"medium","new":"high"},{"seq":204112,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789490231623,"field":"cvss","old":"4.1","new":"5.5"},{"seq":202917,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789403732935,"field":"cvss","old":"7.8","new":"4.1"},{"seq":202916,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789403732935,"field":"severity","old":"high","new":"medium"},{"seq":198064,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789384321625,"field":"cvss","old":"4.1","new":"7.8"},{"seq":198063,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789384321625,"field":"severity","old":"medium","new":"high"},{"seq":183576,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789356675952,"field":"cvss","old":"7.8","new":"4.1"},{"seq":183575,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789356675952,"field":"severity","old":"high","new":"medium"},{"seq":153222,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789285349612,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"7.8"},{"seq":153221,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789285349612,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"high"},{"seq":147141,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789270196516,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"4.1"},{"seq":147140,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789270196516,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"medium"},{"seq":108898,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789183729455,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"4.1"},{"seq":108897,"id":"CVE-2026-89441","ts":1789183729455,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"medium"}]}
