The installer container's `run` script downloads and executes remote inventory and dynamic scripts without integrity verification. A remote attacker, by performing a Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attack or compromising the HTTP server providing these scripts, could substitute an arbitrary executable. This malicious executable would then run with the installer's user ID (UID) and full cluster-provisioning privileges, leading to arbitrary code execution.\n\n## Affected\n\n- `openshift-ansible`\n- `openshift-ansible`\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n### Workarounds\n\nTo mitigate this issue, ensure that the environment where the openshift-ansible installer container is executed is secured against network Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks. When using the `INVENTORY_URL` or `DYNAMIC_SCRIPT_URL` environment variables, always provide URLs that use HTTPS to a trusted server and verify the server's certificate. If possible, avoid using remote inventory scripts and instead provide local inventory files to the installer.","depth":"twilight","depthScore":41,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":40.7,"likelihood":0,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[]}
