If hwmon_device_register_with_info() fails right after it,\nccp_probe() returns without removing them: the HID core then frees ccp,\nand ccp_remove() is not called for a failed probe, so the files stay\nbehind.  Reading one of them dereferences the freed pointer.\n\nRemove the debugfs entries on that error path.  debugfs_remove_recursive()\nwaits for readers already inside the show callbacks, so ccp is no longer\nreachable through debugfs by the time probe returns.\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · updated 2026-09-30 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-97967.json)","depth":"sunlit","depthScore":30,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":30.3,"likelihood":0,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":213341,"id":"CVE-2026-97967","ts":1790754696598,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"5.5"},{"seq":213340,"id":"CVE-2026-97967","ts":1790754696598,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"medium"}]}
