Without 'sfx', a W register\nargument will imply a 32-bit memory location, and consequently\n{8,16}-bit ops will erroneously read and write 32 bits of memory when\nthe LSE instruction is used.\n\nFix this by appending 'sfx' to 'op_lse' to LSE instruction. It is not\nnecessary (and not valid) to append 'sfx' to 'op_llsc', as 'op_llsc' is\na register-register operation which does not access memory (and does not\ntake a size suffix).\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · updated 2026-10-11 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-98248.json)","depth":"sunlit","depthScore":30,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":30.3,"likelihood":0,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":219015,"id":"CVE-2026-98248","ts":1791707033996,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"5.5"},{"seq":219014,"id":"CVE-2026-98248","ts":1791707033996,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"medium"}]}
