A local user with raw packet access or an adjacent guest system can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending network packets with an excessively large segment size. The driver fails to validate the Maximum Segment Size (MSS) before writing it to a hardware descriptor during TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO), causing the size value to wrap or truncate to zero. This misconfiguration can cause network packet processing failures and disrupt network connectivity.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · affected: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 · no fix planned: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 · updated 2026-10-20 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-98556.json)\n\n**kernel: gve: DQO: reject TSO packets with an out of range MSS** — rated Moderate by Red Hat.
