This vulnerability allows an adjacent attacker within Bluetooth range to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by transmitting a specially crafted frame with an extended length field. Because the kernel fails to adequately validate the minimum length of these frames, internal buffer adjustments fail and the unstripped packet header is mistakenly processed as a command or application payload, leading to unexpected behavior or system disruption.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · affected: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 · no fix planned: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 · updated 2026-10-20 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-98600.json)\n\n**kernel: Bluetooth: RFCOMM: Reject short EA=0 frames in rfcomm_recv_frame()** — rated Moderate by Red Hat.
