During device probing or driver initialization, this flaw can lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) through a kernel crash. The driver fails to verify whether acquiring the reference clock returned an error before requesting its rate. When the dependent clock provider has not yet registered, the driver dereferences an error pointer instead of deferring initialization, causing the system to crash.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · updated 2026-10-23 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-98825.json)\n\n**kernel: rtc: mpfs: fix unchecked devm_clk_get() error pointer in probe()** — rated Moderate by Red Hat.
